Stacy Jones
Vocals, Harmonica, Keyboards, Acoustic Guitar |
|
Stacy Jones has had the opportunity to share her cut-loose harp riffs and sultry chops with some of the most well known blues musicians around. Born and raised in Seattle, Stacy began playing the piano at four years old. At seven she picked up the guitar and at eight her father, Tom, started bringing her up on stage to sing Hank Williams tunes with his band -- she hasn't been able to stay away from the stage since.
Stacy met up with Beth Wulff at fourteen and that's when she was truly introduced to the blues. At sixteen she started learning how to rip on the harmonica and became a regular at The Scarlet Tree blues jams where she met Annieville and had the opportunity to trade riffs with Alice Stuart, Mark Dufresnes (Roomful of Blues), Mark Whitman, Dave Conant and many other incredible musicians. A few years later Stacy got the opportunity to play with "The Seattle Blues" headed by Tim Sherman and John Hodgkin. This experience opened several doors for her and after meeting Ray Hartman, the former bass player with Dick Powell (Little Bill and the Blues Notes), they gathered several astounding musicians and formed "The Stacy Jones Band". Stacy then had the opportunity to play with the "Highway 99 Blues AllStars" with Randy Oxford, Jerry Lee Davidson, Virginia Klemens, John Lee, Hod Rod, and Steve Starkowski. As well as being The Hwy 99 house band they performed at the 2005 Bumbershoot Festival opening for Sonny Landreth and Buckwheat Zydeco. Stacy performed for the last two years as Stacy Jones and the Wolf Tones with Beth and Jim Wulff, Jeff Menteer and her father Tom Jones. The group produced an all original CD consisting of 11 tunes. Stacy has also had the recent opportunity to share the stage with Elvin Bishop, several members of his band, Scott Sutherland and Mike Emerson of the Tommy Castro Band, Bobby Murray and Dave Mathews of Etta James' Roots Band, and The John Nemeth Band on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise. Tom Jones
Bass, Vocals |
|
Tom Jones sometimes referred to as “Blind Tommy”, a nickname given him years ago because of his poor eye sight and thick glasses, is a third generation musician. As a young boy he was strongly influenced by his grandmother (Jones) who would entertain the family by playing ragtime and boogie woogie on the piano whenever they came to visit. At nine years of age his first musical lessons were on the accordion, the instrument chosen by his stepfather. When he would get home from the lesson he would sit at the piano and try to transfer what he had just learned. At the age of twelve he was reaquainted with his biological father who had spent several years playing guitar in the bars in Alaska. He bought Tom his first guitar and would teach him periodically over the years whenever he was in town. Tom formed his first band when he was fifteen years of age and would perform in several groups throughout his high school years. Tom took a fifteen year break from gigging while raising his family and establishing a career, but always had a guitar close by. At the age of thirty three Tom started venturing out and performing again and in 1985 made the permanent switch to bass as his primary instrument. He still enjoys playing and composing on the six string. He has played in varied venues including fifties, rockabilly, country, country rock and Blues. He now has the pleasure of sharing the stage with his daughter Stacy as the bassist in The Stacy Jones Band. Tom’s second passion is the production end of things and has been the producer or co-producer on eight album projects. The most recent being the January 2010 release of “Long Time Comin” by “The Stacy Jones Band”. Tom runs his home studio, Loudhouse Studio, in Shoreline, Washington. Tom can be contacted at www.myspace.com/tomjonesproductions or bookings@stacyjonesband.com. Additional Photos of Tom |

Jeff
Menteer
Guitar, Vocals |
|
Jeff Menteer, originally from Spokane, Washington, started as a young teen in garage bands which led to playing in numerous hard rock bands that worked in clubs throughout Washington, Idaho, Montana and up into Canada. Then while in college studying music theory, he spent a couple years playing in a country band every weekend at the collection of clubs on the state line between Washington and Idaho plus did the guitar work for EWSU's production of the rock opera Tommy. While he was a poor student the allure of money grabbed him and he set off on a ten year odyssey that took him from working in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to the Persian Gulf side of Saudi Arabia and to travels through the Seychelles Islands, India, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia and the Philippines. He crewed on a 100-ton sailboat on an extended trip down the Pacific side of Latin America, transiting the Panama Canal into the Caribbean. On all his travels his guitar was his steady companion. A consummate songwriter and student of his passion, Jeff plays a custom amplifier from Tone Junkie Electronics and uses WolfTone pickups in his guitars. Additional Photos of Jeff |
